4/08/09 Shame on Governor Steve Beshear. Do the right thing and resign!
Somalia has its pirates and the state of Kentucky has Governor Steve Beshear.
Governor Steve Beshear in a civil suit, tried to steal 141 domain names from foreign operators claiming that they were “gambling devices”.
The hypocrisy of Governor Steve Beshear makes me feel sick. He claims that online gambling is bad for Kentucky residents and for the state, while at the same time happily collecting taxes from the horse racing industry and from local online horse gambling.
Many horse races are fixed, and the industry has a justified bad reputation.
Governor Steve Beshear doesn’t care, as long as the state collects tax revenues.
In Governor Steve Beshear’s rotten opinion, gambling is bad for you when the state doesn’t collect tax revenues, but it’s very good for you when they collect money from it.
There is never a shortage of desperate attorneys that will do virtually anything for money. Instead of advising Governor Steve Beshear to do the right thing, and that is to get lost, they probably encouraged him to sue, hoping that they will get paid.
The truth is that domain names are not “gambling devices” and the state of Kentucky lacks jurisdiction to seize these domain names. It there was illegal gambling, then Governor Steve Beshear had an obligation to start a criminal lawsuit and not a civil suit.
Without a criminal lawsuit and a conviction, you simply can’t seize things from people. Governor Steve Beshear completely bypassed the criminal lawsuit because he must know that he could never win.
With a civil lawsuit it’s like throwing anything on the wall to see if it sticks. You can often find a judge that completely missed the point, and takes the wrong decision.
In the United States Supreme court which is the highest court in the United States, the last few years have seen an incredible amount of decisions with 5 to 4 or 4 to 5. There are only 9 judges and if there were 10 you will see a lot of 5 to 5 decisions, which means that the cases will be undecided.
With so many 5 to 4 decisions it feels as the system is broken, because how do you explain that 4 United States Supreme court’s judges have a different opinion than the other 5?
Are the decisions political?
Can it be that they don’t see the difference anymore between right and wrong?
Are they out of touch with the reality?
It really makes you wonder.
Shameless people like Governor Steve Beshear take advantage of this system just hoping for the best, even when he has no valid case whatsoever. He relies on his good luck a lot more than the law, reason and logic. It’s like tossing up a coin in the air, makes no difference if you are right or wrong, as long as you are lucky. This is what Governor Steve Beshear tried.
There is no doubt in my mind that the state of Kentucky and Governor Steve Beshear don’t have jurisdiction to seize the domain names, and that a domain name is not a gambling device. In any event, a criminal lawsuit and a conviction are necessary to seize them, and you can’t help yourself like a thief.
I don’t see how the Supreme Court of Kentucky will overturn the RIGHT decision taken by the appeals court, because it would be a serious mistake that will set a dangerous precedent. Like a decision that would allow the Somali pirates to continue hijacking and stealing with the “approval” of the courts.
Governor Steve Beshear has already done serious harm to the state of Kentucky and to the Democratic party. It feels like a banana republic, and does a lot of damage to the United States. Many investors are now scared to invest in the United States because it’s nearly impossible to predict how laws will be interpreted.
Governor Steve Beshear doesn’t like competition when he doesn’t collect tax revenues. He likes gambling, so why doesn’t he do the right thing and legalize online gambling?
I am amazed to see how many idiot online gambling operators had their domain names in an American registrar, and they actually helped and encouraged Governor Steve Beshear. There is no valid explanation why anyone would want to keep online gambling domain names in an American registrar. These idiots are obviously mentally immature and irresponsible and they are looking for troubles.
Don’t look up where is Kentucky. The state of Kentucky is doing very badly, and I wouldn’t live there even if someone gave me a free house. With Governor Steve Beshear there I wouldn’t live there at any price.
Shame on Governor Steve Beshear! He should do the right thing, do a big favor to everyone - Drop this stupid case, and resign. If he doesn’t resign, I hope that nobody will vote for him again.
